The Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences(BIGSSS) invites applications from international students who are interested in pursuing the M.A in Development Studies program in the coming academic year starting September 2022.
The BIGSSS Scholarship Grants are aimed at covering the full tuition fee and living expenses which include accommodation, health insurance, food, travel, and other related expenses during the period of study at BIISS.

The Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS) is pleased to announce its scholarship program for the 2022 academic year. The scholarships are open to highly qualified students from all over the world who are interested in pursuing a doctoral degree at BIGSSS.
Up to six full-tuition fellowships will be awarded each year, and they cover the complete tuition fee, including accommodation and food.
All applicants must provide proof of successful completion of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification; submit transcripts of their undergraduate grades; show evidence that they have taken any required entrance exams or interviews with an official representative of BIGSSS; and provide an up-to-date CV/resume detailing their education history, as well as experience gained through professional activities or volunteering.

The 2022 Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS) scholarship grants are now open for applications! BIGSSS is a highly competitive, international doctoral program that trains the next generation of social scientists.
The program offers full funding for three years of doctoral study, including a monthly stipend, health insurance, and tuition fees.
To be eligible to apply for BIGSSS, applicants must hold an undergraduate degree from an institution in the top 25% of their respective country’s ranking on the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021 or have been awarded a master’s degree by one of our partner universities within the last two years. They also need to meet at least one of the following criteria:
- have scored in the 90th percentile on the TOEFL iBT examination;
- have achieved a perfect score on SAT examination;
- demonstrate outstanding academic performance as evidenced by national exams and/or undergraduate GPA;
- obtain excellent results in tests for knowledge of the German language.

The Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS) offers scholarships for the full-time master’s program in social sciences. Scholarships are available for highly qualified students from all countries.
The scholarship includes a monthly stipend, travel allowance, and health insurance. To be considered for a scholarship, applicants must submit a complete application for admission to BIGSSS by the deadline. Candidates will be automatically considered for a scholarship when they submit their application for admission.
Successful candidates will be notified of their award in writing. Students can apply for a scholarship at any time during the admissions process. To be eligible, applicants must have completed an undergraduate degree before entering the graduate program.
